If you own a business, a firm or if you are a liberal

professional you can invest in art to support

artists. Buy art, it's free!

Most commonly artists sell their production to the general public whereas it's well known that the art market has been declining in France these past two decades. But there are other ways to sell art that would boost the market and help the living artists in their career. One of these is to sell art to the private sector (businesses, firms, professionals, etc).

In France there's an article called 238 bis AB from the "Tax and Revenue General Code"  that specifies certain rules of detaxation. That article stipulates that a firm or liberal business may buy a work of art in replacement of their annual taxes. In plain language that means the investment aquired by a private firm may be entirely (100%) deductible from its annual tax declaration as long as the artwork is shown to the public ! Unfortunately few are those who know about that law and consequently don't put it into practice.

If only 10% of businesses in France used their right to buy artwork instead of paying taxes that would boost the art market greatly and for a long time for those who need it the most : the living artists!

If you read French you can check the article 238 bis AB of the Tax and Revenue General Code. Click on the following link : Achats d'oeuvres originales d'artistes vivants .

Warning : This article is valid only if you have a business in France, abroad but registered in France or in overseas French departments
